I had the honor of hosting Yuta for a very timely discussion of “Why does #blacklivesmatter matter to Japan?”. The lesson was an exploration of social justice around world and its ties to social media. Because my class consists of International students it was important to create a safe learning environment. Through our talks and polls, students spoke very thoughtfully of their experiences. Yuta brought such great insight to his mission and it enabled the students to become more aware about their place in society especially during such a turbulent time and how it relates to the coursework and their next steps.
