#IWD2023 Interview with Karolina Marczak, Digital Marketing Executive at Mantra Media Ltd

1. How do you define a goal of gender equality?

I think it is a really hard question to answer, as I can’t think of one simple answer to it. My understanding of what we are still missing in terms of gender equality will be completely different to someone with a different background. There is still so much to do, such as equal access to education, menstruation poverty, equality in sports, and many other areas. I think my goal for gender equality would be to speak more about all the challenges women experience (without excluding any women from it), raising awareness of what we can do and what needs to be done.

2. What skills do you believe equip yourself with to be successful in your career?

As I work in marketing staying up to date with the latest industry trends and changes is crucial. Constant upskilling yourself is a process that is an essential part of becoming successful.

3. What makes you stay motivated and inspired, especially in the face of challenges or obstacles?

I work best when I’m aware of what I need to improve. Constructive feedback is what keeps me motivated. I have the desire to be better and to know more. I’m in general very passionate about what I do so it is easy for me to stay motivated and inspired by others' work.

4. What advice would you give to young women just starting out in their careers?

I would say don’t doubt yourself, if you were selected for a position it means you were the best candidate for it. Imposter syndrome is much more common than you may think. Don’t let yourself stop you from achieving your goals.

5. Who is your role model, and how do you think you can become other’s role Models?

Most probably you don’t know her but my personal role model since I was a kid is Martyna Wojciechowska. She is a Polish journalist, traveller, activist, and sportsperson. She has a program about women from around the world and the stories she shows there are amazing and eye-opening. If you will have time to google her, her life story is extraordinary. She is an amazing woman and the impact she makes is incredible.
